Federal Election-Town Hall Debate

On April 22nd, 2025, campus unions hosted a Guelph federal election candidate town hall focused on issues faced by workers in the university sector, hosted over Microsoft Teams. The candidates answered both prepared and audience questions, spanning a variety of topics.  We encourage all UofG union members to watch this recorded town hall and make an informed choice when voting on Monday, April 28th.

Notably, our federal Liberal candidate, Dominique O'Rourke, declined to participate. A representative from her office emailed us, saying: "Unfortunately Dominique isn't available to accommodate this meeting during the writ as she is already committed to five other debates. If she is successful, she would be happy to engage after the election, but as I hope you can understand, with three weeks to go, she is focused on meeting voters at the door.". Your union executives are committed to following up with Dominique if she becomes Guelph's Member of Parliament.
