What is a union?

A union is a democratically run organization formed by workers who use their collective power to serve and represent their members in such matters such as hiring, harassment, discrimination, and mental health.

Through their union, workers are to negotiate from a position of strength with employers over wages, benefits, workplace health and safety, pay, and other work-related issues. Unions also work to ensure that management follows the Collective Agreement and treats union members with respect.
